PAM 2683 vs PAM 683

About to purchase a 42mm submersible and wanted to know if there’s any difference between the PAM 683 and new PAM 2683. They look identical and my understanding is that the only difference is the movement (same movement but it was brought “in house” for the 2683 version). Can anyone confirm this?

Movements got tweaked long before they started putting 2 in front of various references. Even boutique staff don't seem to know why the '2' came along, I even asked in Neuchatel and the two people I asked didn't know (Or wouldn't tell me)

I'm not trying to be that guy, but Panerai and their movement topologies isn't something I'd be overly concerned about.
